In his message "Urbi et Orbi" ("to the city of Rome and to the world"), Pope Benedict XVI spoke about the problems Christian and religious communities have to face in their daily existance.
In his very popular and traditional way, the Roman-Catholic Church used the institution of papacy to make public her vision related to the current issues of Christianity and world. Pope Benedict XVI expressed his concerns and also hopes related to the latest developments in Israel and prayed so that the spirit of reconciliation and dialogue would prevale. The faithful in South America are mentioned in pope's prayer in relation to the common hope that democratic institutions would be strenghened in a spirit of harmony and the worries and concerns related to recent kidnappings and deplorable living conditions may find their solution in peace. Iran and its new nuclear threat towards western democracies are also mentioned into pope's discourse, the Church expressing through his voice the hope for a quick and peaceful solution. The new scandal inside Italy and the misunderstandings between left and right parties were metioned so that faithful would impose their will to the political class.
