 The European Association for the Study of Religions chose Bucharest to be the host of its 6th conference. This is a gesture of curtesy towards the pioneer work of Mircea Eliade, the Romanian who founded this new academic discipline.

CHENNAI, India (ELCA) - An international consultation on "Post Modern Challenges to Christian Mission" July 5-6 followed a seminar on "The Contribution of Bartholomaeus Ziegenbalg to Civil Society" July 4 as part of a full week of activities here at Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute marking the 300th anniversary of Ziegenbalg's arrival July 9, 1706, as a Lutheran missionary at Tranquebar on the southeast coast of India. |

 Besides its ecumenical character, the meeting between religious responsabiles from Europe in Bruxelles had also a interreligious character and it envisaged the future scope of religious implication in EU's policies.
